Rene’s path to American Piping Products is one that spans continents, cultures, and callings. Born in Puerto Rico and raised across Texas and St. Louis, Missouri, he brings a genuinely global perspective to everything he does. After high school, Rene answered a higher calling and served in the United States Army — an experience that shaped his discipline, his sense of ownership, and his commitment to showing up for others. Following his service, he earned his degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and began building the next chapter of his life in the city he calls home.
Rene joined APP with a natural gift for connection — and the steel industry turned out to be the perfect place to put it to work. He finds genuine fascination in the sheer breadth of ways steel pipe powers the world, and every customer conversation is an opportunity to learn something new. That curiosity, combined with his pride of ownership in his role, allows him to make a meaningful impact for customers across a wide range of industries and geographies. For Rene, it’s not just about moving product — it’s about being a trusted partner in the work that keeps the world running.
Outside the office, Rene is a devoted family man, happily married with two children. When he can steal away, you’ll likely find him in a duck blind before dawn, warm cup of coffee in hand, watching a flock work its way down to the water — his kind of perfect morning. And in one of his most meaningful commitments beyond family and work, Rene has spent the last several years leading a charity fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s Foundation through his fraternal organization, F3 — raising funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. It’s a cause close to his heart, and a reflection of the kind of person he is both in and out of the office.
